Over the years, we have developed a set of values that help us stay consistent in our decisions, maintain our partners’ trust, and act responsibly in complex and unpredictable circumstances.
Our story
Empowering communities through education
International charity foundation savED was founded in the summer of 2022 by Anna Novosad — Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (2019–2020) — and Anna Putsova, Expert in Institutional Support for Associations and Communities, in partnership with GoGlobal.
Then savED was set out to rapidly support the restoration of educational infrastructure.
The foundation’s first region of operation was Chernihiv region. In Chernihiv, after the Armed Forces of Ukraine lifted the Russian siege, the damage to education was devastating: 27 out of 34 schools in the city had been affected by shelling. The foundation began with a small project — conducting engineering assessments of damaged schools at the request of the city council.
At the same time, savED launched its work in Kyiv region, which was recovering after liberation. There, the team started creating the very first learning centers in small towns and villages where schools had been destroyed or burned down by Russian forces — so that children once again had a place to learn and socialize.
Our story
Empowering communities through education
Since then, savED has grown into the largest Ukrainian charitable foundation helping the education sector recover — and, through it, fueling the renewal and development of communities.
The foundation continues to evolve as a transparent and accountable institution, guided by clear rules and policies, and aligned with global best practices in building effective philanthropic organizations.
At the core of savED’s work lies a comprehensive approach. We provide infrastructural solutions — such as learning centers, temporary schools in surviving buildings, and bomb shelters — combined with educational programs (catchUP), youth engagement (UActive), as well as training and support for educators. In this way, we help communities strengthen their resilience, nurture ambition, and develop the capacity to drive their own growth and improvement.

We work where we're needed the most
Our focus is on frontline and border regions affected by the war. Together with local authorities, we look for the most effective solutions to help children return to learning despite the destruction of educational infrastructure, enemy air attacks, power outages, learning losses, and other challenges of wartime.

FAQ
We are asked
How can I support one of the foundation’s focus areas?
If you represent a business, we can match you with a project based on your capacity and interest. This might be a one-time contribution toward repairing or equipping learning spaces, or a long-term partnership to sustain our learning hubs.
We also run public fundraising campaigns for specific sites — and anyone can join! Thanks to these small “patchwork” contributions, we’ve already completed several projects. Follow us on social media so you don’t miss the next opportunity to help!
How can I check the foundation’s reports?
We provide regular updates directly to our partners and publish both financial and narrative reports in the dedicated section of this website. You can also follow our work on social media — that’s where we most often share the results of our public fundraising efforts.
Does the foundation work with international donors or organizations?
Yes, international partners are our primary source of funding, and we take pride in the trust placed in us by major organizations with globally recognized names.
